World Food Fare

Let me just start this entry by saying that I am not at all adventurous when it comes to food. I generally order the same thing at all Mexican restaurants (enchiladas), the same thing at Italian restaurants (fettuccine), etc. This is one of the areas where Josh and I are complete opposites. Josh loves to try new food and rarely orders the same thing twice. My thought is, "What if I don't like this new food? I still have to pay for it and I'll still be hungry! Of course Josh will eat it for me, but I don't want his food, it's new too." Anyway, hopefully this will help you understand the rest of my story.
I pass by a world food fare market everyday on the way to and from work. I've been curious about it for months, but haven't checked it out. Well, I had some extra time on my hands Tuesday, so I ventured in. This place was fascinating! I actually walked up and down the aisles twice and was very tempted to take pictures (don't worry- I refrained myself.) The aisles were labeled by cities, countries, regions, etc. Some that I can remember right now are Cairo, Saigon, Frankfurt, Havana, Hong Kong, and Seoul. I had never even heard of several of the places. Of course about 90% of the food was not labeled in English, so I have no idea what I was looking at. Of the labels I could read, my favorites were "shrimp flavored chips" and "dry cuttlefish (could be rehydrated in "just minutes"). Needless to say, I walked out empty handed. But what a fun experience! I'm sure Josh would have found something to buy and would force me to try it! For now, I'll stick to experiencing my cuttlefish in an aquarium, not in my mouth!

That place sounds pretty fun. I was at the doctor's office today and they had a calendar of the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (if that's what it's called) and it made me think of you. So if your ears were itching or whatever, that's why!

Ha ha! I order the same things each time at restaurants, too! I tend to head to restaurant for a specific dish rather than the establishment itself.
